Lisa Craig Fenwick has maintained an ongoing private flute studio since 1985 and has taught students of all ages and levels.  She was on the flute faculty at the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca for over 23 years and also has taught flute at the State University of New York at Cortland. She teaches flute and beginning/intermediate piano at Namaste Montessori School. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from Boston University's School of Fine Arts. She started, administered and taught Kindermusik of Ithaca for more than 14 years. (Kindermusik is an early childhood music and movement program for birth-age 7) She also taught Kindermusik outreach programs on an ongoing basis at Ithaca Montessori School, Kendal of Ithaca, Lansing Drop-In Center and Spencer Library.

Lisa is also a harpist and harp teacher, both on pedal and lever harp. You can often find her performing at weddings, private functions and recitals. In addition to her solo harp work Lisa plays in the duo Enchantment with harpist and singer Melissa Collins. Lisa plays both flute and harp in this duo which performs music for harp duo, harp and flute as well as harp and voice. Lisa was also formerly a member of Harps on Susquehanna Harp Ensemble and has played in several flute ensembles as well.

In the past Lisa has performed as a flutist with Elmira Symphony (now called Orchestra of the Southern Fingerlakes), Auburn Community Orchestra, Longy Chamber Orchestra, Cayuga Woodwind Quintet, Cornell Symphony and Chamber Orchestra and Boston University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. She has also performed as a flute soloist with the Cortland Community Orchestra and as a harp guest soloist with Boynton Middle School Orchestra. She has recorded on the flute for the Orchard Park Recording label a cd of Christmas music for flute and harp as well as having performed on several other recordings for other musicians. On her harp Lisa has performed at numerous functions and concerts throughout the region as well as with several performing ensembles. On the harp she especially enjoys playing Celtic and classical music.

Lisa has served on the Board of Trustees for the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra as chair of education committee as well as on the search committee for a new conductor. Before starting Kindermusik of Ithaca, she served as Executive Director for both the Community School of Music in Ithaca, NY and the Tioga County Council on the Arts in Owego, New York.

In addition to teaching flute and harp, Lisa teaches beginning piano and early music reading skills to beginners and intermediates. As a parent, Lisa is well versed in the Suzuki method and completed the first Every Child Can Suzuki Training Program. She also took the national Music, Healing and Transition Program to learn how to play music at bedside for those who are ill.

Lisa says "I was tremendously excited to take the KinderFlute training. It is an incredibly well thought out curriculum that is playful yet extremely beneficial. I am a huge proponent of early childhood music and its long term benefits. My goals with my teaching are to help children develop a life long love of music while teaching great technical and practice skills."
