Etruscan, 4th century B.C.
built 1988

I made this thorax in steel; the authentic examples are of bronze. This armor used to fit me; it is modeled on my own torso (just kidding!). It employs rings as closures, which I have fitted up with leather straps (although the originals may have used cords). You draw the armor close with the straps to permit you to fasten it at the sides with loose pin hinges; the shoulders have only the straps as fastenings.
