Low Order of Terrible Trio for Assist

Ability Issue 73, early May 1958 "Assists in Scientology"

Tape: 5703C21 ACC "The Assist"

In processing, you have to control or direct the attention, objects, person, or thoughts of the injured person. If you are really good on the subject of assists, you will direct an additional thing: his knowingness. You can control a man's knowingness rather easily, but it is hard to see it. About the first thing that you can observe about somebody is his person. You are trying to straight it out. Don't think that, even though you have this person sitting down, you have straightened it out, because it is all still messed up.

But there is something you can straighten out easily -- and that is his attention. If you could heighten his attention and his knowingness at the same time, you would really be in wonderful circumstances. You always shift and direct his attention, hence locational processing. If he was a scientologist, with his case in pretty good shape, you could run Trio with considerable success by directing his attention.

But you wouldn't run Trio with the command "Look around the room and find something you could have." You should say, "You look at that chair." "Now decide you can have it." That is a very low order of Terrible Trio.

You could run the injury out in this fashion:

"Look at that chair." "Decide the injury cannot have it."

End Point

Run the process until a realization occurs, or an ability is regained.

These objective assist processes are excerpted and compiled from the works of L. Ron Hubbard as part of a study of the Briefing Course materials. They are made available here for the purpose of discussion on spirit-l. Spirit-l is a list intended for the discussion of the philosophical underpinnings of clearing philosophies and methods. Frequent topics include self-betterment processes that can be done alone or in a coprocessing setting. There are "fair use" considerations as the works these quotations are taken from are copyrighted. The actual owner of the copyrights seems to be in question, but it most certainly is not I. Therefore, these fair use excerpts are available for Spirit-l list subscribers to prepare for, and participate in, the on-line discussion. It is also for others who, although unable to participate in the discussion of Hubbard's work at this time (perhaps lacking email access or available time), would like to prepare for such discussion on the above thread topics in the future. Just as one can copy a chapter out of a book to teach a class, and even a whole book using a chapter for each class, separate supplementary manuals will facilitate the different on-line discussion topics.
