Human Services Coalition

The Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County, Inc. (HSC) is a private nonprofit corporation focusing on efficient, effective planning and delivery of human service programs. The three programs of the Coalition (Health Planning Council, Information & Referral Service, and Human Service Planning) work together to enhance consumer access to services, to facilitate cooperation among service providers, and to advise community funders. HSC encourages affiliations that provide group benefits, and evaluates the implications of change in state and federal law as they affect local health and human services.

I&R provides information and referral on community and human service organizations in Tompkins County. I&R also publishes the "Community Services in Tompkins County Handbook," the "Human Services Resource Directory" and the "Guide to Volunteer Opportunities."

Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance

Director: Andi Gladstone
IBCA is a group of women who individually have chosen many different paths of treatment, but who are united in their fundamental belief that each woman must decide for herself which treatment is best. IBCA does not advocate one treatment over another; rather they support each woman in her chemotherapy, individual choices. Whether the choice is macrobiotics, acupuncture, radiation, or some to assist and combination of the many treatments available, IBCA is there support in that process.

The Service League is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers which operates a used clothing shop. The Service League currently has about 120 active volunteers and is always seeking new volunteers. The Shop accepts used clothing and footwear on consignment or donation for resale and is totally nonprofit. After careful consideration of all grant application forms received, the Board of Directors distributes all proceeds back to organizations within the Tompkins County Community.
