TC3 Student Award
The Varna Community Association will award a minimum of $250 to one or more Varna residents planning to attend Tompkins Cortland Community College in the spring semester of 2007. The Varna Community Association Board of Directors’ intention is to enhance the quality of life in Varna through charitable support of post-secondary education students attending our local community college. International students are encouraged to apply. Current VCA Directors and their relatives are ineligible. VCA Student Award Committee members and their relatives are also ineligible.
Applications must be received by December 15, 2006. Submission of an application for the TC3 Student Award indicates agreement to the use of the student's profile and/or essay in publication, if chosen as the recipient, by the VCA.
Eligibility Criteria:
1) Have resided in Varna (as defined in the VCA bylaws) for at least 6 months. Proof of residence must be submitted with application. A utility bill, statement from landlord, etc., will satisfy this requirement. Varna is defined in the VCA bylaws as NY Route 366 between Game Farm Road and NY Route 13, Forest Home Drive from NY Route 366 to the Town of Dryden line, Freese Road, Monkey Run, Forest Lane, Baker Hill Road to Stevenson Road and Stevenson Road to Game Farm Road.
2) Be enrolled in at least six credits of course work at TC3 for the Spring 2007 semester. Proof of enrollment, such as a copy of the student's spring 2007 semester schedule must be submitted.
3) Submission of a typewritten essay of approximately 500 words on "What does community service or volunteerism mean to you?"
