:
: I wouldn't be surprised either.
:
: At this point, the "writing committee" is looking at:
:
: 1) a *heavy* rewrite of the Camel to update it to Perl5. We are
: leaning towards slimming down some of the tutorial stuff because of
: the existance of the Llama (which we didn't have when we wrote the
: Camel).
:
This one gets my vote. Especially if there is a section called "Perl
Internals" (or somesuch ("Camel Guts"?)) that tells how to interface Perl with
other languages and how to add your own functions to perl, etc.
: 2) a *very light* rewrite of the Llama to eliminate all the things
: where I said "I think Perl5 will do *this*". Now we *know* Perl5 does
: all those (and more :-).
:
I vote for this one too :-)
: 3) a *new* book: "Learning More Perl" (working title) or "the alpaca
: book". (that won't be the animal, that's just the file I have ideas
: stored in. :-) This is a sequel to Learning Perl, covering the rest of
: Perl4 and *all* of Perl5. Perhaps "Learning Perl++" would be
: better. :-)
:
Learning More Perl could have the stuff I mentioned above and then I'd have
to buy two books instead of one..... I'll give you one guess which I'd
prefer. :-) (Sorry merlyn, I didn't buy the Llama, I figured I have enough
dromedaries on my bookshelf :-)
: The priority is roughly as indicated above, although there'll be some
: overlap. This writing stuff is hard work. :-)
:
: Don't expect a new camel before the end of the year. Of course,
: I might have to say the same for Perl 5....
:
: print "Just another Perl hacker," # but not what the media calls "hacker!" :-)
: # legal fund: $1182.57 collected, $11835 spent; email @FUND in body for details
I haven't sent you any money yet (But my boss has. Look for the $$ from
Corpus Christi TX). I promise that you'll get $100 of my next paycheck. :-)
(Of course, if this is some elaborate hoax on your part (you wish! :) I'll
expect a full refund :-)
