Summary: What about the restitution?
Intel has requested $60K in restitution. How did they come
up with this figure? Have they provided an itemized breakdown
of their costs? Have they provided any evidence?
If an individual is a victim of a crime, the individual is
required to provide receipts or other evidence in order to be
entitled to restitution. Some expenses (such as adding structural
reinforcement to make future break ins more difficult) would
not be remimbursed (since they are improvements rather than
repairs). Payments over and above fair market value for the repair
(for example, hiring the most expensive repairman to escalate
the damages) also would not be reimbursed.
Fair is fair.
