Perl5 is a necessity. Not for the DBM stuff, tho.

Perl5 and an HTML browser (netscape, mosaic, etc.) is pretty much it.
Right now we're just tossing fping inside of the beta; gotta ask
the author for permission (on my todo list ;-))

God, they'd have to offer me a hell of lot more than double to get me to
