I agree, very much.

Make that very very much.  $40,000 worth.

I've learned (the very hard and expensive way) that the cops seem to
be listening only for what they want to hear, and if you mumble a
sequence of phoenemes that are *close* to something that might nail
you as a criminal, they will take that mumbling and misquote it out of
context to their advantage in their report.

It's not their job to be fair.  It's their job to locate evidence that
the prosecutor can use.

(I will be happy to reveal the details of two very serious "out of
context" quotings *after* my trial in September.  Provided I can still
afford an Internet account. :-)
