Mistress
Arianna of Wynthrope
Scribal Work:
Illumination: Yes. I've been a scribe since 1977. I've done illumination designs ranging from early 2nd c. BC Greek (based on pottery and architectural designs) to 15th c. Italian, French and English. I've also done Japanese, Persian and even a scroll in braille with raised illumination for a blind friend.
Calligraphy: Yes. See above. In addition to pretty much any hand in period, I've made up hands to simulate arabic and japanese.
Wordsmithing: Yes. I wrote some of the basic scroll wordings used in the Red Book when I was Principality Signet. For individuals whom I know or have information about, I like to do special wordings that are meaningful to the recipient.
Translation: No. I'm afraid my old high school French isn't up to the task.
Scriptorium(s) associated with: None
Takes Individual assignments? Yes. I have been mostly inactive as a scribe since having children, but now that they're getting older I'm getting back into art - slowly.

CURRENT CLASSES
"What's Wrong with this Scroll?" Students look through exemplars of my past work, compare them with the original period piece that inspired the scroll, and critique the work to figure out what is wrong and how it could have been avoided or fixed. This class is intended to help students develop a discerning eye with regard to the details that make a scroll more (or less) authentic. "Fixing Scribal Mistakes" Discussion class regarding the kinds of mistakes or damage that can occur on scrolls, how to fix them, and what tools are available for scroll repair. "Organizing a Scribal Guild" Discussion of ways in which you can form and run a local guild to encourage new scribes and spread the good word about manuscript art!I have also taught classes on:
