Scribal Work:

I consider myself semi-retired as a Kingdom scribe. For various reasons I can only produce a few scrolls a year, but I continue to try to share my knowledge and be supportive of the art of illumination.

• Illumination: Yes

This is my main focus on scrolls. I really prefer to just make the pretty pictures.

• Calligraphy: Yes

  I can do some calligraphy but my works are mediocre in my opinion. I much prefer to get my husband Otto or another talented calligrapher to fill in the words.

Wordsmithing: No

When in a spot where I must word a scroll I tend to use the "chinese menu" approach, pulling bits from the Red book for the most part. When I've tried to write unique wordings they have tended to be long winded and make calligraphers and heralds groan. Like I said, I just like to make the pretty pictures.

• Translation: No

I've no skills with languages other than English and some folk would say I butcher that. :-)

CURRENT CLASSES

I prefer to work with students as individuals or in very small groups. I find it easier to accomidate the different levels at which people absorb and advance when learning illumination in this manner. Therefor I rarely teach formal classes. I am happy to sit down with anyone and teach them individually.
