We are sad to report that Mistress Michaele died on April 20th, 2004.
Unto the populace of the Known World does Baron Stefan send sad tidings.
Mistress Michaele del Vaga, age 58, of Irondequoit New York, died early Tuesday, April 20th. Michaele is survived by her loving husband, Stefan Wolfgang von Ravensburg, her brother, George Stone of Murphys, California, and several other relatives.
Michaele del Vaga, recently recognized for her effort on behalf of the SCA with an Augmentation of Arms, has worked in the exchequerate at every level of the SCA, from Local exchequer to Corporate Treasurer. Her labors have helped bring our Society into the modern world of proper accounting by developing the policies currently in effect throughout the SCA.
Not content with being 'just' an exchequer, Michaele excelled in the gentle arts.Ê Her research and needlework were as meticulously executed as one of her financial reports. Michaele led and taught dance classes in a variety of locations including Pennsic. The true scope of her influence on the gentle arts, however, can be seen in the generations of SCA artisans, especially in those in the kitchens. Her feasts, and those of cooks she has helped to teach are known far and wide throughout the Known World. Michaele's expertise in the kitchen was known in the Modern World as well. Michaele was a consultant for Medieval feasts at local Rochester institutions, including the Memorial Art Gallery, the Rochester Science Center, and the Rochester Civic Garden Center.

Following a double l ng transplant in 1995, Michaele's life became more complicated. The complications in no way slowed down her activities and devotion to the SCA. Michaele continued to influence many people's lives with her knowledge, her pragmatic approach to life, her incredible determination, and her lack of tolerance for fools. She will be sorely missed!
A gathering to celebrate Michaele's life will also be held during the middle weekend of Pennsic. Details will be posted in the Pennsic Daily Tidings.
For gardeners, Michaele wished to be remembered with a red Gallica Rose.
