For the longest time, I was
looking for an excuse to make a fun Non Aligned Worlds deck but
never got around to it. Then came Nug/Ulg. Nug/Ulg made building
the Steal B4 deck design perfectly viable, and definitely funny.
This deck revolves around Nug/Ulg and Steal B4 to pull cards out
of your deck like mad, increase your influence with Valen's War
and the obvious events
like Short Term
Goals (fueled by Nug/Ulg's destiny mark engine), and then tie
for first through the effective power boost from Steal B4. If
faced with any serious conflict opposition, this deck isn't going
to get anywhere, but that is the genius of winning off of Steal
B4...you can convince your opponents that you are exactly zero
threat to everyone else, as you can't win on your own, and make
friends by promising to help other folks win, as long as you can
win along with them. And it works--I tied for first place in the
tournament we had right after I built this deck.
Opening Hand: Nug/Ulg (starting ambassador) Vlur/Nhar Fashar Muster Support Rapid Growth Deck (60 cards): 1x Hello, Old Friend 1x Nuclear Bluff 3x Cannot Run Out of Time 3x Time Jump 3x Evacuation 3x Watch Your Back 3x Trade Pact 1x Different Perspectives 2x Glitch 3x Short Term Goals 3x Trade Windfall 3x For the Good of All 3x Level the Playing Field 1x Test of Merit 2x United We Stand 2x Valen's War 1x Pak'Ma'Ra Spacelanes 3x Megalopolis 3x Steal Babylon 4 1x Higher Calling 3x Drazi Sunhawk 2x Lhim/Dram 1x Luhf/Syhf 1x Nhuk/Vrek 1x Milashi Voktal 1x Lazarenn 1x Wushmeshkeshlep Fo 1x Kalika Qwal'mizra 1x Non-Aligned Aide 1x She'lah 1x Hyach Matriarch 1x Zathras Who Was
The early game for this deck works pretty quickly. Turn 1, play Muster Support, Rapid Growth, sponsor Fashar (for 1) and draw an extra card. Turn 2, promote Fashar (for 2) and build to 6. From there, play and promote Vlur/Nhar quickly, but building to 10 influence isn't really your first goal, as this deck generally sits at 10 influence for quite some time. You want to get a sizable inner circle (the 4 facilitated by Muster Support at minimum) to maximize Nug/Ulg's destiny mark engine. Switch over to Steal Babylon 4 as soon as you can (but after getting 4 characters in your inner circle), and then proceed to pull all the B4 cards out of your deck, winning as many B4 conflicts as quickly as possible (while making everyone at the table your friend). With the Trade Pacts, Influence events and what not, you can jump up in influence a great deal in one turn, and hopefully latch on to victory at the last moment.
While highly unlikely, it is not impossible to accidentally win a sole, standard victory off the power gained from Higher Calling. Zathras Who Was is in there to maximize destiny marks.
