About My Harps
I currently perform on 3 different harps.
|
My full size pedal harp is a very large and beautiful instrument but due to the size of the harp it may not be the most appropriate instrument for every event. I need to know about any stairs ahead of time when playing this harp. This harp is a full size orchestral harp with 47 strings and may be too big for some venues. It has a mahogany finish and weighs about 75 lbs. It is about 75 inches high and is 38 inches wide at its widest part. I do play this harp outside but am selective about where. |

My 36 string lever harp is a full 5 octaves and is made from exotic bubinga wood that gives the harp a lovely warm tone that carries well. This harp is perfect for many weddings and private parties. The harp is fairly easy to move and stairs are of minimal concern when I play this harp as it weighs only about 30 lbs. While I cannot play in direct sunlight with any of the harps, I sometimes choose this harp when asked to play outside. This is also the harp I use when playing with Pas De Deux , my duo with hammered dulcimer, flute and harp and when performing in my harp duo Enchantment, as well as with the Harps on the Susquehanna harp ensemble. This is the harp I most often choose when playing at weddings and other private parties where the space is limited. The harp is 54 inches high. |

My 26 string lever
harp is 3 1/2 octaves and is also made of bubinga wood.
For a small harp it has an exceptional tone.
This is the harp I usually bring when working with small groups of
children as the legs are detachable and sometimes I choose to sit right on the
floor with the group. This is also my
harp of choice when playing for a few patients in a hospital setting or nursing
home. This harp is too small for
most wedding or private party situations. The
harp is 39 1/2 inches high without the legs and 49 inches high with the legs. |
Amplification is available for all harps but in many cases is not needed. I have a small battery powered amplifier so electrical access is not required. Whenever possible, I prefer to play without amplification.
