Lord Nelson's Artifacts.

Lord Nelson
very year on October 21, England commemorates Trafalgar Day. One cannot use the term "celebrates," for although this holiday does commemorate one of the greatest victories at sea, it also memorializes the death of England's most beloved admiral. In the years that have passed since the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 his reputation has not been surpassed, but rather has grown as the admirals of other navies have looked to his life for inspiration and tactical instruction. Although many admirals have been compared to him, none has ever been set above him.

Hourglass
Nelson's Hourglass
This hourglass is similar to many of those which were carried aboard the sailing ships which Nelson served on. It features three slim brass columns which enclose the glass and support discs of polymer ivory. The first disc is scrimshawed with scenes of HMS Victory and of Nelson's death in the arms of Captain Hardy. The second disc depicts Lady Hamilton, the Battle of Copenhagen, and Nelson with his telescope to his blind eye saying “I see no ships”. Height 240mm(9 ½”) x 130mm(5”) diameter

Though they were never married, their love proved enduring and Nelson was wearing Emma's ring when he dief aboard HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. The two interlocking rings of 9 ct gold can be worn together or seperately, supplied in presentation boxes with a miniature parchment scroll telling Emma's story. Ship
HMS Victory
was born in 1758, at the request of the Board of Admiralty who requested for a “first rate” battle ship. Although she was named a year later, it would take another 20 years before she was ready for service. Over two thousand trees were used in the construction of her hull, equaling roughly 60 acres of forest. At a cost of £63,176, HMS Victory boasted 100 guns along with 800 officers and men aboard. She began her service in 1778 during the American War of Independence. After a major refitting in 1803, she went on to serve in the War of 1812. Her fame though, stems largely from her service as Admiral Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st, 1805. It was on that day which Nelson sent his now famous signal, “England expects that every man will do his duty.” Nelson and his ship certainly did there's. Despite being mortally wounded, Nelson successfully delivered victory to the Victory defeating the combined forces of the French and the Spanish. The intricately detailed model of this classic ship featuring genuine fabric sails and finely detailed painting is presented on a wooden stand and plaque featuring the name of the ship, along with a parchment detailing its history.
