Glenfinnan Photos

This is the Highlander Monument in Glenfinnan, built in honor of the men who met Bonnie Prince Charlie when he first raised his standard in the campaign that later ended at the Battle of Culloden. Supposedly, this is where theymet his boat, but there is apparently some disagreement over the exact place. If you live in a different reality, Glenfinnan is the birthplace of Connor and Duncan MacLeod. This is where part of the Highlander episode "Homeland" was filmed.
This is nearly the exact opposite view from the monument. It's an aquaduct. You'll notice there isn't really much of anything else here. There is a visitors center, but it was being remodeled and was closed when we were there.
This is a view of the monument from behind it, where the lighting was better for taking photos. You can see the rocks from which it is made. I think all of Scotland is built from those rocks. Around the base of the statue is a garden of plants relating to some of the clans, but it being March, none were evident.
Gina and Lisa are collecting "Holy Water" for Virginia. I think this photo shows what a beautiful place it is. No wonder Duncan misses it!
