Historic Ithaca, Inc. was founded in 1966 to identify and preserve the historic built environment of Tompkins County for the benefit of all. We recognize that this encompasses not only architecture, but the streets, trees and other elements intrinsic to our community-life and shared heritage. Our goal is to increase awareness of historic preservation by diverse educational programs and through advocacy efforts. We support and encourage contemporary design and planning sympathetic to the historic environment. We provide the leadership and knowledge necessary for preserving our precious heritage for future generations.
