Giventer Software Systems PC Configuration and Programming
Giventer Software Systems PC Configuration and Programming

Over the years, I (Thomas Giventer) have written programs in FOCAL, BASIC, FORTRAN, APL, ALGOL, PASCAL, C, SNOBOL, COBOL, FORTH, MATLAB, Visual BASIC, Delphi, Java, XML, and many assembly languages.

In 1979, for IBM, I wrote a symbolic assembler for their 370 series microcode, and wrote some diagnostic microcode for the 3031 processor.

In 1979, for Ithaca Intersystems, I wrote what was probably the first ever CP/M-compatable word processor -- InterEdit. (For those of you who don't know what CP/M is, it was a predecessor to DOS from Digital Research, Inc.) I also wrote a 68000 cross-assembler that included a code optimizer. Both of these were written in Pascal.

I was also involved in preparing the ANSI/IEEE Extended Pascal Standard, and the IEEE Standard Assembly Language Mnemonics standard.

I have used and configured many PCs, from 8088's with DOS 1.0 up to Pentiums with Windows ME, as well as Macintosh and Unix (Coherent and GNU/Linux) systems.

I also have worked on various embedded systems.
