Interactive Talk September 2008 : The Competitive Spirit
Competition is arguably one of the oldest of instincts. It’s an aspiration that has pushed us to create, advance, and stand out as a civilization. It is the greatest of all catalysts and one of the strangest passions. When honorable women and men take it upon themselves, it becomes the most cherished of human triumphs.
Competition has taught me that I am passionate about something, I have a powerful drive and that I am not content to let life follow its course, but rather I seek to direct life and put my stamp on it. Although, at times competition has forced me to recognize some unattractive aspects of myself, it has also caused me to seek higher achievements and work smarter.
Do you remember when you were a kid? Competition was something most of us learned very early on.
Remember that drive? Where is it today?
Can you get it back?
What happens when competition turns ugly?

- The 2007 re-release of the philosophical text of Dynamism.
We live in a society that virtually worships the physical universe. This means those of us that are more enlightened tend to find this to be quite oppressive. When one thinks he is basically a spiritual being one has a different attitude. You expect the universe to co-operate and it usually does.
At the root of Dynamism is the idea that one is creating his own universe, however bad or good it may seem.
Within our society we have a lot of fixed ideas about the nature of reality. When one fails to realize that agreements shape the world, it can seem as though those ideas are the way it is. As youngsters we absorb these ideas and until we inspect them newly, they lurk in our mental basement ready to trick us later....
Dynamism is a practical philosophy. In other words you learn and apply it to your everyday life. Dynamism comes from the word dynamis, meaning Lifeforce. We are not the first to call life force dynamis, it was written of several centuries ago by a man named Hahneman. He was a medical doctor who also advocated homeopathy. He believed that medicine must work to “tune” the spiritual essence and was more significant than the chemical changes brought about by the medicine. You will also find it widely discussed in Greek philosophy, as the energy of the Gods.
