Since 1988, the Ithaca College Trombone Troupe has commissioned trombone ensemble compositions by prominent composers in the effort to add significant works to the repertoire. The Allen E. Ostrander Trombone Composition Prize, awarded bi-annually, continues that tradition while honoring the memory of one of the most prolific and prominent contributors to the literature and pedagogy of our instrument in this century. Elegy for Van and Children of Jericho are winners of the Ostrander prize.
