     SETTING UP MacTCP
 
     Go to control panel and click on MacTCP.
 
     In MacTCP:

     1.) Click on PPP, make sure it is highlighted.
     2.) Click on MORE
     3.) Set upper left to SERVER, it should be the middle button of
the three.
     4.) Set upper right to CLASS C
     5.) Set domain server and IP numbers as follows.
 
     NOTICE THERE ARE 3 ENTRIES, USE THE SCROLL BAR ON THE RIGHT
OF THE BOXES TO FIND THE LOWER 2 ENTRY LINES IF YOU HAVE TO.

     Note the periods (.) including the one after lightlink.com.  Also
note the repetition of the primary DNS IP address.

     Mark the first line as DEFAULT, there is a bullet on the right,
turn it on.

     6.) Save your settings and reboot your machine, at this time.  If
you don't your machine may lock up.

     SETTING UP MacPPP

     Go to control panel and click on ConfigPPP

     At the bottom hit NEW and in the pop up box enter Lightlink.

     Hit ok, then hit CONFIGURE.
 
     Set the following options properly.

     Modem speed is 38400 for 14,400 modems and 57600 for 28,800
modems.

     See bottom for init strings.

     Flow Control is CTS/RTS (DTR)

     Phone number is 277-5026.  If that fails call us.

     CONNECT SCRIPT

     You no longer need a script for our system.  Go into CONNECT
SCRIPT.  Make sure all the OUT - WAIT buttons are set to to OUT, all
lines are blank and all CR's do NOT have X's in it.

     This will turn off the script completely.

     Close out the connect script box.

     AUTHENTICATION.

     Hit the AUTHENTICATION button, and turn on pap authentication,
and enter your user-id and password and save your work.

     That's it!

     NETSCAPE  SETTINGS

     Userid is your e-mail account name.  If you are
homer@lightlink.com then your user-id is homer.  Userid is pronounced
USER-I-D.
 
     Netscape settings, go to Options, pull down on general
preferences and set default home page to

     http://www.lightlink.com

     Go to Options and pull down on Mail and News Preferences.

     Go to servers.

       POP SERVER: pop.lightlink.com
      SMTP SERVER: smtp.lightlink.com
      NEWS SERVER: news.lightlink.com
       POP USERID: your user-id

      Go to identity:

      REAL NAME: Put your real name here
      E-MAIL ADDRESS: user-id@lightlink.com
      REPLY-TO: empty

      Eudora:  Go to Special and pull down on configuration or settings.

      POP ACCOUNT: user-id@pop.lightlink.com
    RETURN E-MAIL: user-id@lightlink.com
      DIALUP NAME: user-id

     Modem init strings.

    For all modems, IBMs should be set to &D1 and Macs should be
set to &D0.
 
    All modems should have forced error correction.

    USR's add &M5
    Multitech add &E2
    All others add \N2(either) or \N4 (LAP-M) or \N5 (MNP5)

     Win95 users turn on 'required to connect' in modem settings.

     If you have static on the lines you might want to add S10=20
which will cause the modem to tolerate a 2 second loss of carrier
before it drops the line on you.
