Plans
are currently under way for K2BSA at the 2010 Jamboree. The 2010 K2BSA Chairman
(volunteer in charge) is Ed Dudley WA4ISI, (e-mail: wa4isi@arrl.net)
and the Director (professional advisor) is Mike Childers W9MC (e-mail: childers@netbsa.org).
If you would like to apply for a staff position, you need to apply on-line at http://www.bsajamboree.org/staff.html . Be sure to indicate your first choice as K2BSA. In addition to the requirements listed for the Jamboree you must have an amateur radio license.
There are four main areas of activity for K2BSA at the Jamboree:
1. The Demonstration Station - where Amateur Radio is on display for thousands to see.
2. Merit Badge Midway - Where the radio merit badge is offered along with instruction in amateur radio.
3. Licensing - Exams and classes are offered as time allows.
4. Setup, Support and Miscellaneous Activities.
If accepted you should be aware of the extreme weather conditions for this part of Virginia in August. It is not unusual to have 100/100 days. That is 100 degrees and 100 % humidity.
