The etched designs on the borders of this harness echo those of the KD Garniture. They consist of a repeated series of vignettes, including the harpies, wings, cornucopias, and fire steels seen here, and "wolf's teeth" patterns beside the bands. Along with these elements, the borders included the initials of the patron and his wife, and of the armorer and the etcher, Marianne Hansen.
The sprays of palmettes, and the helmet crest, are etched with a scale pattern, and surrounded by flames and curlicues. Two large areas on the backs of the pauldrons have larger harpies. All etched bands, and sprays are gilt. This garniture has over 75 feet of roped border, and over 600 gold-plated, brass capped, iron rivets.
