Fluted Maximilian Harness

German, circa 1525
built 1996

The exchange pieces for this harness were designed for "mix-and-match": within the stylistic constraints of contemporary field armors, you can combine them to give the impression of several varieties of armor. The shoulders can be defended by small pauldrons, full pauldrons, or full pauldrons with haut pieces. In the same way, the elbows may be set up with either large shell defences or small wings.
