"Black and whites" were infantry and light cavalry armors. They are
characterized by bright steel bands and broad black surfaces, darkened either
by oxide or paint. The black surfaces are left rough from the hammer and not
polished. The helmet shown here is a burgonet; the face is covered with a buff. I also made a morion as an exchange piece for this harness. Because
this is the armor of the infantry or mounted pistoliers, there is no lance
rest. I provided two pairs of gauntlets for this harness, a pair
of mittens, and a set of fingered gloves.
