Tompkins County's labor force is by far
its most important asset. The variety of skilled workers range from experienced

professionals in marketing and finance. Cornell University graduates and
staff provide the nation's leading experts in virtually every field.
The labor force is highly motivated
and highly productive. Over 80% of the population have high school diplomas
and over 38% have college degrees.
Adding to our own labor force are
the over 7,000 people who commute from surrounding communities to work in
Tompkins County.
