So ever >since then, my religious feelings in the conventional sense have withered >away." You of course all know the story about David and the Lottery Ticket? David was a good Jewish boy who went to synagogue faithfully and loved his God. One day David prayed to the Lord, 'Lord, just once I would like to win the Lottery. I would never ask for anything again.' A few weeks later, David is in the synagogue again and he is praying 'Lord, I have been a good boy, I help my mother and sister, and I never break the commandments, all I ask is just this one small favor, please let me win the Lottery.' A few weeks later, David is in the synagogue again and he is praying 'Lord, I just don't know what to do. Just tell me what it is you want of me. I will do anything, if only you will let me win the Lottery.' Suddenly out of the void a voice comes and says, 'David, if you want to win the Lottery, at least meet me half way. Go buy a Lottery ticket.' Homer W. Smith Adore-l list 3/08/89 No subject
